If a tooth gets knocked out, pick it up by the crown, not the root, and either place it back in the socket gently or keep it moist with a little milk. The sooner you can get to our Heights office, the better the chances of saving it. Call us immediately and we’ll get you in as fast as possible. Time is genuinely the deciding factor here.
It depends on the severity. When in doubt, call us. A mild, occasional ache might be able to wait for a scheduled appointment. A sharp, severe, or persistent pain, especially one accompanied by swelling, fever, or sensitivity to pressure, is your mouth telling you something is wrong that needs attention now. Don’t wait it out hoping it resolves on its own. It rarely does.
We can’t stress this enough: no, it can’t wait. A tooth infection won’t go away on its own. Left untreated, it can spread beyond the tooth to surrounding tissue and bone. In serious cases, the infection can become a broader health concern that goes well beyond your mouth. If you suspect an infection, contact us as soon as possible. Same-day care is essential.
